PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Assessments will be held Saturday, February 22nd
Location: Northern Nevada Baseball Club (Nevada Factory) 280 S. Rock St Reno, NV 89502
Late Registration: 4:00-4:30
AA Assessment: 4:30-5:30
Minors Assessment: 5:30-6:30
Majors Assessment: 6:30-7:30
Late Registration is available prior to assessments; however, you must be registered prior to the scheduled assessment time. We encourage you to register online at www.sscalripken.com prior to February 22nd .
Assessments are not required but highly recommended. They allow managers to see the skill levels of players and pick teams that are evenly matched and competitive. Assessments are for AA, Minors, and Majors players only (not for TBall, Rookies, or Babe Ruth). Only players assessing and coaches will be allowed in the building.
PLEASE reassure your players that there is no pressure. Just do their best and have fun with it. Assessments can be intimidating for kids, but we try our best to just have fun.
YES, THEY SHOULD ASSESS:
-If your player is moving up a division.
-If your player is staying in the same division, but would like to play for a different team.
NO, THEY DO NOT NEED TO ASSESS:
-If your player is staying in the same division and wants to stay on the same team, they DO NOT need to assess. Those players will remain with the team. However, manager/coaches and team names are subject to change.
Players not already assigned to a team that are eligible to be drafted will be drafted to a team on 2/23.
WHAT IF I CAN’T BE AT ASSESSMENT:
Players that are eligible to be drafted that are NOT at assessments will be “hat picks”. At Draft, Managers will randomly draw names out of a hat to fill rosters. All players will be assigned to a team. Once the draft is completed, your manager will contact you via the email that you listed on SI Play within 48 hours of completion of the draft.
Draft selections are final!
-Players, please arrive 30 minutes early. Check in will start 10 minutes prior to scheduled assessment time. Players will not be allowed to enter the building until 10 minutes prior to their assessment time. Assessments will be carried out per division. Anyone late or missing at the time of assessments will not be allowed to assess.
-Players will be assessed on basic hitting, fielding, and throwing skills.
WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING-
PLEASE- no cleats, tennis shoes only. Players will only need to bring a glove, batting helmet, and one bat to use. Bats and batting helmets will be available if needed.
Space is limited, so parents are asked to wait outside. Assessments will only take a few minutes.
Assessments for managers are mandatory. You only need to attend for the allotted time of your division. Please arrive about 15 minutes prior to your assessment time. If you are unable to attend, you may select a representative to attend in your place.
Draft will be held at Roundtable Pizza on February 23rd from 11-3:
Please wait outside the party room until you are invited in. The draft is a closed meeting. MANAGER/ COACHES ONLY. No families allowed. If you don’t have a coach or an assistant we can help you identify parents who have helped coaching in the past and you can reach out to them about being an assistant.
ALL COACHES, MANAGERS, and TEAM PARENTS are required to register online at SI Play, have a current background check (2018 or newer), and complete the Abuse Prevention Training, in order to be eligible to be on the fields. Managers and Coaches must have completed the coaching certification and have a certificate on file. These must be completed before opening ceremonies. NO EXCEPTIONS!
